2026 WAS here lol

It´s been roughly two weeks since exam season ended, which means I have finally started experiencing the flow of time normally. Since I passed all of my exams (yay!) I can now finally get back to things other than studying, at least until the end of May when the second exam season starts.

I have made some resolutions on New Year´s which I haven´t really been able to fulfill, mostly because I managed to dislocate my shoulder and also greatly underestimate how much revision I will need. I figured posting about them might both help me with motivation and also make others who feel like 2025 (or rather 2021) was probably yesterday. It´s not like you need an actual start of a year to make a change, but I will still call it NY resolutions to keep it nice and tidy in my brain.

1. pass all my exams 1st try

this is going quite well so far

2. go to the gym 3-4 times a week

for obvious reasons I am only starting again now, connected to it is

3. strengthen my core and arm muscles so I can start fencing again

I had to stop even prior to dislocating it, because I took a break from working out bcs of something and my core was just so ridiculously weak I had genuine trouble keeping my form correct. That is a big problem when doing historcal fencing, because the swords are heavy and the stances demanding, so it is really easy to get lasting problems.

4. keep the sides of my head properly shaved

I´ve gone back to having a deathhawk (it´s kind of like a wider mohawk, but I usually keep it to the side or in a hairtie), but if one does not shave it often enough it becomes difficult to see where long hair ends and short starts, so I would have to go to a hairdresses to get it fixed, and I REFUSE!!! I got a Phillips OneBlade to help me with that and I have to say it is great for all kinds of shaving, I cannot recommend it enough. If you ever nicked yourself shaving and feel like spending 8x the price of a replacement razer head would be worth never feeling that again, do consider this (it also works with and without water/shaving foam etc.).

and 5. be calmer

I try to tell this to myself a lot. Everytime I start to overthink now, I just try to feel how small it all really is, and nothing is rly worth sacrificing my happiness (or my principles, them being a necessary condition to it). It has been a lot easier now that there is sun and spring and fog and generally just more diverse weather where I am.

I hope everyone reading this has a nice year, be it adventurous or calm, filled with change or constant. Did you set any resolutions? Will you be setting some now? Maybe they could be "New season resolutions".

P. S. I would also add "be more active on spacehey", but I like the very low-stakes vibe I set for myself here. Sometimes I will be posting here, mostly not, but I managed to get it working on my phone again, so I can finally read all your blogs now whenever I remember this site exists. Yay no. 2!
