Pokemon Gen 10 looks really cool!

the trailer is flashy, but i really doubt game freak's technical ability in creating 3d games.

i still think they don't get how to do create models that aren't uncanny, have weird movement, or have a 3d world that doesn't feel liminal/empty

i still have the (deluded) hope that they will realize that the majority of their staff were (and probably still are) masters of 2d and will try hd 2d or hd 2.5d

something along the lines of octopath traveler-- that's shown that people are strongly interested in that style

there are fan-games like gamma emerald and tech demos that prove that a professionally made hd 2d pokemon game would be a welcome return to form

i've spent some of my time recently playing crystal clear, an open-world gen 2 crystal rom hack, and it's made me realize that this series has so much untapped potential.

i didn't even like gen 2 that much to begin with, but it makes me wonder what could be possible if game freak really got their shit together

i was initially really excited for the introduction of 3d in mainline games with gen 6, but after the initial enthusiasm wore off i realized how empty the games felt.

i wasn't exactly happy with the map of gen 5 (quite honestly, i didn't like the games much), but i think the animated sprites were absolutely nuts and to this day that's game freak at their true artistic potential
