so, i'm a writer (or at least somewhat, i haven made much works yet) n i LUVV usin the em dash! it's great for addin in between lines—has a nicer look n feel to it too than commas or brackets—n at least for me, it rlly adds to the emotion of whatever i'm writin!
so the fact that i can't use it for academic writing w/o bein called an ai user is...annoyin—to put it lightly. ion have much to say ab this myself, but i've heard many stories of ppl bein accused of usin ai for usin the em dash. n it brings the question—how did the em dash start bein associated w usin ai?
n even then, it's not rlly a reliable source to detect ai in writin. i mean, there's better ways to do so—lookin for grammatical errors, checkin the version history of the doc (i use google docs, idk if other software has this feature) or even just blatant misinformation. idk if i trust ai detectors so i'm not sayin that, but it shows to see there's better ways to check for ai in writin! so the idea of the em dash bein an indicator for ai usage is maddening!
anyhow, i just rlly hope that one day this concept will be broken down n no longer applicable. this is just bizarre...(𓌻︵𓌻)

but studysync & other stuff dont have version histories or anythimg so grrrrrr
im triggerhappy & instantly point out em dashes. i... dont use em dashes since i feel like **words** could explain it better than an em dash.
if your teacher is getting on you for it, just show a version history.. grammarly has an authorship feature!!
hm, that is true! i feel like italics n bolds work rlly great too! tbh ion even use em dashes like that, ion think i've ever used em in academic writin. i just don't like this idea of em dashes = ai usage n that others can't use em

you could also try to overpower the "ai-ness" of it by making it human...?
i write like an ai apparently when i dont use tons of commas/periods.
