Anatomy Lesson

I wanted; I wanted to kiss a line from the friable edge of his temple (pterion), to the gentle jut of his cheek-(zygomatic)-bone. I wanted to press my questing mouth to the sponge cartilage of his ear (pinna), and trace with my tongue its shape (helix, tragus, lobe, scapha). I wanted access to his mouth, permission to count his teeth (incisors, canines, premolars, molars), and taste his palate (hard & soft). I thought fondly of his slightly misaligned jaw, that sometimes clicked (temporomandibular joint), thought of cupping it in my hands. I wanted to listen through my fingertips, placed at the tender spot at the side of the throat (carotid pulse), to his heartbeat.

I wanted; but sufficed to admire his smile (zygomaticus major & minor) and be contented.
