Just recently, I have started to get into old Jhonen Vázquez stuff. I really like it, and am starting to be influenced by comics such as "Johnny the homicidal maniac" or "Squee". I already had a kind of similar art style, but the writing style is just something else man. I love it, but I'm not sure if I want to write such dark stuff. What should I do? I know that in one way or another, I'm already being influenced by Jhonen, but I'm not sure to what extent I want that influence to come.

draw and write whatever makes you happy. every artist is a combination of the different things they like and that inspire them. If you're inspired by the art style of Jhonen Vasquez but would rather write different material than he does, then do that. Pick and choose what you want to take from your inspirations and leave the things that aren't "you." have fun
