AO3 is an anticensorship, made by incest lovers to post their fics there, you cannot enter a website such as this and then get mad when there problematic content in there.
They have the best tagging system out of any fanfic website, there’s no excuse if you click on a rape or incest fanfic and them get all pissy and harassy with the creator, the tags are there for a reason.
I don’t consume problematic content other than writing a vent rape fic every once in a while ( not eroticizing it , like genuinely realistic depiction of rape ) and I do get angry when there are heavy untagged things, but in a website such as AO3 you’re the only responsible for the content you watch , there’s no recommendations, no “ we think you might like this “ , you have to ACTIVELY search for something for it to appear and lets be honest, it isn’t that hard to exclude things

Real. I like vanilla stuff so I purposely steer away from taboo content like that. I will admit, I don't understand why people get enjoyment off of certain things, but I can see they're not my cup of tea and turn away. I don't harass a author for writing things like that, especially if the writing is actually good.
Howeverrr I will definitely get on someone's case if they don't write that shit right. Like romanticising or sexualising rape, incest, ED, as someone who suffered from an ED, it makes me feel icky. But if the writing is great the writing is great. That's that. It's just a fine line between the stuff being there for an actual reason versus just being there for a fetish and it doesn't move the plot at all.

i dont personally condone indulging in media like that for entertainment purposes (cause whats so entertaining and enjoyable about rape or incest) but again, screaming about it online will do nothing and honestly its a great site!!

yea, you can totally enjoy content like that if its treated as it should!! ive read pieces of fiction depicting some pretty dark stuff too, but of course the authors made sure it was clear the topics were *messed up*.

I'm against "anti censorship" and AO3, but it's so easy to just avoid. The fanfic literally has the "non-con" tag, bro, it will be there. It would be more surprising if it wasn't
