Hello! I'm YouYou, and I'm the creator of "Let My Heart Reach You".
"Let My Heart Reach You" is a web comic I've been working on that has yet to be released. It regards a young man discovering the mysterious properties of the river on his family lands, allowing him to travel to the past. Each time he does, he seems to run into a familiar face he continues to grow more and more tired of.
The comic is supposed to be a comedic action-based story, but there will be romantic elements, particularly between the two main characters. This was initially developed for my friend Hengli, but it is now dedicated to my friends Adaiya and Chali as well!
The early stages (plot points and general story direction) are planned, though I still need to allocate time to develop them completely. Other aspects I've worked on:
- Backstories (developed, yet to write down)
- Prologue (currently writing the 3rd or 4th rewrite..)
- Character dynamics (main pairing, side relationships)
Things I am planning on finishing this month or early March:
- Comic stylization (choosing a style for the comic)
- Character designs (have yet to come with solid designs)
- Flesh out side/supporting characters
The plan I have for this comic is to keep it short and simple. The episodes won't be too long, but I'll try to make them lengthy enough to be enjoyable. My minimum episode count will be about 25, though I am striving for at least 40.
I have yet to decide where to publish it. The likely platforms will be Webtoons and Instagram, though Instagram will likely feature shorter segments and separate artworks.
Regarding the story itself:
"Forced to venture outside of his room during his birthday, freshly nineteen-year-old Kang Jiahong finds himself walking along the Grand River. It is a massive natural waterway, sprawling across the vast Kang lands, seemingly getting longer each year.
During his walk, his dogs--an old husky and two young, excitable Samoyeds--lead him to a small cliff that hangs over a huge expanse of water. At first, Jiahong is unsure why they're so agitated. Then, he hears it: the wail of a young boy, getting pulled by the icy Autumn current of the Grand River.
Despite his frailty from years of staying indoors, Jiahong dives in without much of a second thought. While he manages to keep the boy above the water, he is unable to prevent them from getting dragged beneath the harsh stream.
When they near the surface, Jiahong--and the boy, who clings onto him because his life does depend on it--is pulled onto the riverbank by various hands. And before his body falls victim to the cold, Jiahong notes how each individual, including the young boy, is wearing traditional robes.
His eyes shut, and he thinks about one last thing: 'Did I just walk into a C-drama or something..?'"
If you haven't seen it yet, the protagonist is Kang Jiahong and his rival-to-be is the illustrious Ji Xiaojin! I have a single post about them on my Instagram, but there will be more to come very soon. I'll try posting updates on here, though they will be very infrequent.
