I know this seems random but bare with me
In social studies we were doing philosophical discussions, and a topic that came up was the true meaning of communism and how it's been botched by those in charge of executing it, causing it to do the opposite of what it intends. I'm gonna write what I talked about in class.
Communism as a philosophy is that every human is equal therefore every human should live equal lives, therefore those in charge should not only promote equality but also provide what's necessary to sponsor happiness among people. Communism economically means that all wealth is distributed as evenly as possible among citizens, that way no one is above another. This is why the Soviet Union and the US butted heads so much, the US runs on a capitalistic society that relies on an unforgiving structure to function, otherwise it will collapse.
So, though it may sound obscene I'll have to take the communist side of the argument. Historically social constructs have been something implemented by those in power to stay in power and have everyone below them boost their own growth. This also runs deeper into human nature, we will always reach for structure whether we're aware of it or not, it's in our biology. However, we're now living in a more advanced and modern society where we should be able to separate ourselves from this integrated structure in order to build a more forgiving and inclusive world. So yes, we should distribute our wealth equally, and those in power should provide food, water and shelter so we can sponsor our own happiness and growth.
But unfortunately this will never happen because almost everyone in power across the world are pigs
But anyways that's all, hope u enjoyed

Communism makes sense on paper, but in practice it will never work.
Candy!
Actually communism is based on equity, not equality (like the other user said), because in a communist society (in Marxist theory, a stateless, classless and post-monetarian society after socialism) resources are based in need.
Also I'm really glad more people are aware of what communism and socialism actually means...
