♡ albums i have listened to in 2025.

so... i didn’t really fancy listening to a whole album when i was a kid. idk why. everything changed when i made some friends back in 2017 who liked to mantain blogs about music. i had an account on blogspot too in 2011, but since i’m too embarassingly introverted and kinda lazy/overprotective to showcase my stuff, it didn’t really gain much track.

my biggest (somewhat silly) dream was to be a VJ working for MTV. but then they announced the cool MTV in my country has been shut down and Paramount would be in charge of bringing back a new, not-so-cool-at-all MTV as a replacement. last year a second plane has hit the towers when they announced they would discontinue all Viacom channels from cable in favor of bringing all their programs to streaming. BASTARDS!!!!

i always make a list and babble nonstop about what i'm currently listening on my twitter profile but i’m taking a sabbatical year there at the moment. here’s some albums (and a few vague thoughts) i have listened to last year, in order:

the libertines — the libertines (2004)

favourite tracks: can't stand me nowwhat katie did, what became of the likely lads

skips: 1

notes: british yaoi. jk. all tracks are gold.

nicole dollanganger — flowers of flesh and blood (2012)

favourite tracks: nebraska, adam (reformatory), phantom pains, lividity, danny, flowers of flesh and blood

skips: 0

notes: huh. being disordered since the mid-2010s really leads you to magical places. this one is my favourite of them all. being lo-fi makes it more sincere methinks.

lana del rey — lana del ray aka lizzy grant (2010)

favourite tracks: for k part 2, jump, pawn shop blues, put me in a movie, smarty, yayo

skips: 7

notes: lana del rey's songs are certainly a hit or miss in my lane. mostly miss. but this album is simple and fair.

nicole dollanganger — greta gibson forever (2016)

favourite tracks: lemonade, let's all go to the lobby, i slept with my uncle on my wedding night, saturday night

skips: 2

christtt — deep dark trench (2018)

favourite tracks: notification, blind, scanning, national tragedy, never forget, format failed, reliving hell, world peace, from the ashes, hope, american dream, forget, thoughts and prayers

skips: 2

notes: this was my first contact with plunderphonics. sample choices to reflect different times in american history are very interesting and nostalgic.

nicole dollanganger — curdled milk (2012)

favourite tracks: coma baby, holes of albinos, blood brothers, barren, dog teeth, hair lockets, valley of the dead, ghosts, ball jointed doll (harry), cries of the elephant man bones

skips: 1

notes: weak. but cool.

lady gaga — mayhem (2025)

favourite tracks: disease, abracadabra, garden of eden, perfect celebrity, vanish into you, killah, zombieboy, how bad do u want me, shadow of a man, the beast

skips: 0

notes: been a fan since 2009. this is her best one yet. i get so happy when i remember she came to my country and played almost all the songs from this album one day before my birthday :')

marina and the diamonds — mermaid vs sailor (2007)

favourite tracks: hermit the frog, simplify

skips: 4

notes: could have been a decent album, fails miserably because of the production/mixing. dear lord. still fun though!

public image ltd. — album (1986)

favourite tracks: fishing, round, bags, home, ease

skips: 2

lorde — virgin (2025)

favourite tracks: shapeshifter, man of the year, favourite daughter, current affairs, clearblue, grwm, broken glass, if she could see me now

skips: 0

notes: good album. melodrama's still her best.

nicole dollanganger — observatory mansions (2014)

favourite tracks: observatory mansions, rampage, creek blues, choking games, angels of p--rn, nara dreamland, don't be scared

skips: 2

public image ltd. — first issue (1978)

favourite tracks: theme, religion II, annalisa, public image

skips: 3

public image ltd. — this is what you want... this is what you get (1984)

favourite tracks: tie me to the length of that, the pardon, the order of death

skips: 1

public image ltd. — metal box (1979)

favourite tracks: albatross, memories, swan lake, poptones, careering, the suit, socialist, chant, channel 4

skips: 1

public image ltd. — commercial zone (1983)

favourite tracks: love song, mad max, bad night, the slab, lou reed pt. 1 & 2, miller hi-life

skips: 2

notes: not many people talk about keith levene enough. when you listen to this album and try to compare with “this is what you want...” you can note a big difference in sound when you listen to later pil albums. i prefer this one.

rich kids — ghost of princes in towers (1978)

favourite tracks: strange one, hung on you, marching men

skips: 2

notes: glen has made a name for himself with this album ngl. his post-pistol career has some pretty nice tunes. yall should recognize his work more!

sex pistols — never mind the bollocks, here's the sex pistols (1977)

favourite tracks: holidays in the sun, bodies, no feelings, anarchy in the uk, pretty vacant, emi

skips: 1

notes: spunk is better. no kidding.

the clash — the clash (1977)

favourite tracks: janie jones, remote control, i'm so bored with the usa, white riot, what's my name, deny, protex blue, police & thieves

skips: 6

the clash — the clash [us version] (1979)

favourite tracks: clash city rockers, complete control, (white man) in hammersmith palais, i fought the law, jail guitar doors

skips: 0

notes: i don't get why a lot of people think this one is superior to the original. they re-recorded some tracks with topper, sure, but still it feels wrong somehow, at least in the tracklist. i really dislike how they (re)moved some tracks. clash city rockers is brilliant, but it's no janie jones. this album needs janie jones as the opener.

the clash — give 'em enough rope (1978)

favourite tracks: tommy gun, julie’s been working for the drug squad, last gang in town, guns on the roof, drug-stabbing time, stay free, cheapskates, all the young punks

skips: 0

notes: everyone in the fandom is gonna tell you this album is totally weak compared to the rest of their discography. LIES! PROPAGANDA!! this is their best one yet and i'm gonna die on this hill.

the clash — london calling (1979)

favourite tracks: london calling, brand new cadillac, jimmy jazz, hateful, rudie can't fail, spanish bombs, the right profile, lost in the supermarket, clampdown, the guns of brixton, wrong 'em boyo, death or glory, koka kola, lover's rock, four horsemen, train in vain

skips: 3

notes: their magnum opus. a bit overrated but highly likeable if it's your first listen.

the clash — sandinista! (1980)

favourite tracks: the magnificent seven, junco partner, ivan meets g.i. joe, the leader, something about england, rebel waltz, look here, somebody got murdered, one more time, one more dub, lightning strikes (not once but twice), up in heaven (not only here), the sound of sinners, police in my back, midnight log, the equaliser, the call up, washington bullets, broadway, charlie don't surf, junkie slip, kingston advice, the street parade

skips: 13

notes: amazing songs, unnecessarily long. should have been a double LP at most. most tracks at the end are forgettable.

christtt — social justice whatever (2018)

favourite tracks: never log off, shitposting hell, darude sandstorm, lossless loss, whatever, lol internet, 777, nothing sacred, naruto amv, frog god, safe, current year, soulseek

skips: 2

the damned — damned damned damned (1977)

favourite tracks: neat neat neat, fan club, i fall, new rose, fish, see her tonite, 1 of the 2, so messed up, i feel alright

skips: 3

notes: i find it more interesting than bollocks or the clash's debut because it's slightly aggressive and more fast-paced.

the clash — combat rock (1983)

favourite tracks: know your rights, car jamming, should i stay or should i go, rock the casbah, straight to hell, overpowered by funk, atom tan, sean flynn, ghetto defendant, inoculated city, death is a star

skips: 1

notes: aka the album everyone remembers because m.i.a. sampled one of their songs. ha! this was my first contact with the clash when i was a kid. a very sweet goodbye in form of music. no, we won't talk about cut the crap in this house. i'll only defend the band. the clash mark II had potential. if only they had the guts to fire bernie rhodes... rip joe.

the damned — strawberries (1982)

favourite tracks: ignite, stranger on the town, dozen girls, the dog, gun fury (of riot forces), pleasure and the pain, the missing link, life goes on, bad time for bonzo, under the floor again

skips: 2

notes: these are some baby steps towards their definite transition to goth. i like it.

that's it i guess. until next time.
