In an age where Instagram, TikTok, and even Facebook are necessary evils for a tattooer's career, I've been searching for some alternatives that remind me of my childhood.
So, I suppose, that is why I have made an account here today.
I am 28 years old, and I am a tattoo apprentice in Austin, TX. You can find me on Instagram @alanahluvv if you feel so inclined. I am currently offering free tattoos via appointment, and I will be doing free tattoos until the shop owner decides that I am ready for walk-ins.
I hope to use this space to document my growth, and maybe some challenges that I face, and as a way to express my identity as a tattooer in my own way, and not with the sterile and clean template of traditional social platforms.
Although I have only been an apprentice for 18 months, I have been a part of the tattooing world for almost ten years. My husband and I met when he was an apprentice, my father-in-law owns the shop that I work at, and many of my friends have had their own apprenticeships over the years and we've all helped each other through the rough times.
I would love to connect with other artists, whether they are tattooers or not, and even other writers (as I have been a fanfiction author for almost 15 years now). I will continue to engage with people here to see if there is life on this site, and if not, I will search elsewhere for the community I hope still exists on the internet.
