My review on Friday The 13th: The Game

Before I go on, please note that the official F13 Game was taken down December 31st, 2024. With the game being gutted to the point the offline mode doesnt work. I used the fanmade mod, Resurrected, a download link can be accessed on their Discord or searching it up on Youtube.

Friday The 13th: The Game is an amazing third person horror asymmetrical game, similar to Dead By Daylight and Texas Chainsaw Massacre it's fun, it has multiple maps, multiple survivors (called camp counselor's ingame) and multiple versions of our favorite hockey mask wearing slasher villain, Jason. The version I used (Resurrected) gives everyone access to each Jason version and Counselor's, varying from characters from the movies, like Fox who appeared in Pt. 3, Tina Shepherd from New Blood, and Tommy Jarvis (who can be called in via radio/phone line). Each version of Jason is from official F13 Media, even the 2009 and FVJ version. Alongside those two, Uberjason and Savini Jason are also in the game, free for all. The gameplay loop is the same: Jason pops out of the water, kills a counselor, and everyone spreads out. Jason starts out in a hut with his mothers sweater and head, and can pickup some throwing knives/darts that can be used against the survivors, Jason has four abilities (not counting darts, traps, or RAGE) Morph, which allows him to teleport anywhere on the map, Sense, which turns your screen gray with buildings survivors are in turned red, and survivors being red, Shift, which changes your POV into First Person as you move at hyper fast speeds, and Stalk, which turns off Jason's music cue. Another thing that Jason has at his disposal is Rage, an ability that serves as his ultimate. It never wears off and builds up during gameplay, it buffs all his moves, makes it so he can break walks/doors by just walking through them, and makes him unstoppable via normal means (like baseball bats). Jason wins by killing all the survivors and Tommy Jarvis if he was called in. Survivors have to either escape, hold out until the 20 minute mark, call in TJ, or try killing Jason. Survivors can escape by finding gas, keys, and a car battery inorder to start one of the two cars that spawn in. Fix and sail a boat (which needs a propeller and fuel) Or call the police/TJ, with you having to avoid Jason during the wait. If you call TJ, you have the chance of killing Jason, this is very high risk, high reward, as messing up a step can lead to you dying and losing, but killing Jason leads to an instant win without escape. In order to kill Jason, someone must die or escape, after that, you must get Mrs. Voorhees's sweater from the hut he spawns in (as a female survivor) and put it on. Then call Tommy Jarvis, the player who escaped/died will spawn in as TJ, A good chunk of players should have weapons like shotguns, ax's, or a machete. Once you're armed, unleash hell on Jason (aim for his face) until his mask fall's off, TJ must put the mask on, once it's on TJ's face, the female survivor with Mrs. Voorhees's sweater must approach Jason, and press whatever button appears on their screen, it's best to give the Mrs. Voorhees knockoff a weapon like a bat, once his guard is dropped, she should whack him with the bat, he will drop to his knees, and TJ must finish Jason off, the way the lobby I was in did it, is that TJ had a machete and finished Jason off, I dont know if you can use the shotgun TJ spawns in with or any other bladed weapon. Overall, I really love F13: The Game, it so sad that the official version was gutted, but luckily, there are fan remakes/mods that let you play online.
