Hi, Im Andrew de la aya, and today i wanna tell abour mi little project: URSS GOTICA
URSS Gótica is a project born from limitation: sampling Roblox songs and small fragments of indie video game soundtracks, reshaped using only synths, heavy reverb, and a vinyl effect inside LMMS. From those minimal tools, a cold and spacious sonic identity emerges—digital nostalgia transformed into something industrial and worn. The reference to the Soviet aesthetic—visually evoking cities like Moscow—is not about propaganda, but about atmosphere: concrete, rigid structures, emotional winter. Even the cover art follows that logic; I use normal photos my friends send me—nothing sexualized, just everyday images—that, once placed inside this sonic universe, take on a different weight.
But URSS Gótica is also emotional and political. It speaks about how ugly it feels to love and not be loved back, about the quiet pain of giving everything and receiving nothing. It carries a sense of resistance and a fight for dignity for my people, refusing to ignore reality. At the same time, it values the small things as if they were worth more than a million dollars: hanging out with my friends, laughing with no money in our pockets, finally landing a clean ollie on a skateboard after countless tries. It exists between the everyday and the nihilistic, between heartbreak and loyalty, building a world where digital culture, struggle, friendship, and emotional coldness all coexist in the same narrative.
