Peter Collins:

Peter Collins is a singer, songwriter, and musician. He decided to become fully dedicated to making music in 2012. You’ll often find him holding a guitar in photos, which is an honest reflection of him and his music. Collins taught himself how to play guitar and heavily features it in his songs. His music is a blend of R&B, soul, and jazz. He often has a minimal approach to instrumentation, filling in the gaps with his incredible singing skills. Collins has incredible range with his vocals, often showcasing intricate runs, register changes, and vocal flipping. He has a sweet yet powerful voice that floats atop his instrumentals. His first single, “Love Like”, was released in 2016, soon followed by his debut album, “Love and Mind”, in 2018. Since then, he has released a deluxe version of the album, along with two more albums and a handful of singles. Collins has said that a few artists he takes inspiration from are Osmond Collins, Tori Kelly, and Jonathan McReynolds. Most recently his music has shifted to being more spiritual, releasing a collection of Hymns in 2023. He is a very private person, respectfully so, making it a bit difficult to find accurate info about him and his life, but I believe the fact that he shares his wonderful talent with us is more than enough.

I admittedly have not kept up with Peter Collins well, but the songs off “Love and Mind” have stuck with me for YEARS. A couple that I find myself thinking about often are “Love Like” and “Sunshine”. Despite the minimalistic approach to the instrumentals, that being only a handful of instruments, the vocals have cemented themselves into my mind, maybe forever. He truly is an inSANELY talented vocalist, and I can’t really think of anyone who sings like him, although his range and technicality do remind me a bit of Beyoncé and her incredible skills. Although I haven’t really mentioned it before, his guitar skills are also really good. I honestly can’t really remember how I got into his music, but if I had to throw a guess out there I’d say… YouTube? He seems so genuinely kind and a warm presence for those who have met him. It’s been a while since he’s released music, but I hope he continues to pursue music. Whether he produces more albums or prefers to only perform for those closest to him, I hope his wonderful gift can continue to be appreciated in the world.

I highly recommend “Love and Mind” and hope you take a listen. And, if you may be interested in his other works I hope you give them a listen as well!
