The figures retail for way too much these days, especially second hand! It has come to a point where the BOOTLEGS are closer to the figures original price than what people are selling them for.
What caused this? way to young audience that have unlimited internet access!
lets be real most of the figures that skyrocketed are mostly adult content but most of the newer fans are minors. minors who are buying or selling these figures for multiple hundreds of euros btw! parents simply dont care what their children consume as long as they stfu
The internet as a whole is also the problem too. Aesthetics took over and to fit in you NEED certain things or else youre fake. these trends also skyrocket the prices. you rarely see people with their own aesthetic without any other labels like "yumeshiper" go viral or even have somewhat of a big audience! my personal favortie example of this is @fuwude on tiktok! her account is mostly about her favorite character Rika.
i know most people dont like social media bans for under 16 or 18 but i think it would help to bring the prices down somewhat. remember most figures arent worth 100€ especially if they were like 20€ a few years ago.

No literally and the worst part about it is that people are paying the insane AM prices which means they're not going down. There is NO reason for Love Colored Ward Miku to be selling for 600+ dollars when she retailed for less than 4000 yen and has the quality you'd expect for that price. People are paying 300+ dollars for the Gloomy Bear Sonico?? A prize figure??? Where am I. Hello. It's so dark in here.
yessss omg thee super expensive figures are always those bad quality ones! i keep seeing people buying those and i just think "...that looks like the wind will make it fall apart"
my grail launched at 200 tbf but its actually good quality...still not worth almost double the damn price tho TvT

I 100% get this OMG. I mainly collect Nitro+Chiral merchandise, specifically Aoba from DRAMAtical Murder and his aftermarket prices are diabolical. The Max Factory scale retailed for about 150 CAD and now the cheapest I've seen him go for recently is 400, usually closer to 700!! Actual insanity. I managed to get my hands on his Native scale from Insider Joy (GEM OF A SITE BTW) and that still put me out 475 dollars once shipping came into play. My wallet hasn't recovered.

im kinda lucky since the fandom I collect from is super old and not much known anymore so I have a few listings for 200 marked for when I’ve saved enough
