so i’m currently sobbing… for Alysa Liu and Ilia Malinin. LET ME EXPLAIN
I watched Alysa’s performance in the golden dress (her final performance or smth) and this. woman. She just looked so freaking happy to be there and omfg she’s so gorgeous and sincere. she said something about how she doesn’t care about winning and just wants to show her art to the world and i really respect that and resonate with it. ALSO. HER SMILE. WAVING TO THE CAMERA. INTERACTING WITH HER COACHES AFTER. so freaking sincere. not to mention an effortlessly graceful performance boy she did amazing. But what really got me was when she ran over to the girl in second place and hugged her, held her head and congratulated her. HOLY FREAKING TEARS. Genuinely restored my faith in humanity. What an incredible woman, her story is even more inspiring so i recc taking a look at it.
Then Ilia Malinin. His performance in the black and gold bodysuit was really good the first time in the team category (like i was letting out full fucking gasps) but guys. He fell a couple times during his solo performance of the same routine, and his face at the end fucking killed me. The raw emotion was honestly the most disturbingly relatable thing i’ve ever seen. He knew he could do it and the disappointment in his face just killed me. I literally flinched. holy shit
anyways both of them are so fucking talented and i got to see such a transparent example of the range of human emotion. figure skating so freaking cool im crying
