44 days of hell case.

The "44 days in hell" case refers to the 1988–1989 kidnapping, torture, and murder of Junko Furuta, a 17-year-old Japanese high school student. This case is officially known as the "concrete-encased high school girl murder case" (女子高生コンクリート詰め殺人事件) due to how her body was discovered, and it is regarded as one of the most horrific crimes in modern Japanese history.
The Case Details
  • Victim: Junko Furuta was a popular, academically strong, and kind-hearted student who worked part-time.
  • Perpetrators: She was abducted in late November 1988 by four teenage boys, led by Hiroshi Miyano (who had ties to the Yakuza), after she rejected his romantic advances.
  • Captivity: For 44 days, she was held captive in the home of one of the boys' parents in Adachi, Tokyo.
  • Torture: She was subjected to unimaginable, daily torture, including brutal rapes, severe beatings, burning, and being forced to eat her own excrement and live cockroaches. She was beaten to death on January 4, 1989.
  • Concealment: After her death, her body was stuffed into a 55-gallon drum, filled with wet concrete, and abandoned in a Tokyo park.
  • Systemic Failure: Despite the crime taking place in a residential area, no neighbors reported it. It was reported that up to 100 people knew about her captivity, but feared retaliation from the perpetrators due to their Yakuza connections. Additionally, police failed to properly investigate after a tip-off, and Junko was forced to call her parents to tell them she had run away, which delayed the search. (tell me what other cases yall want me to go over :3)
