with the right amount of research of course
if you think any differently you are probably a classist
not everyone can get a diagnosis especially in the american healthcare system plus you need to self diagnose first before you can actually get a diagnosis plus sometimes people aren't in the safest place where they can get diagnosed if you've done your research on trustworthy websites like .org ones professional diagnosis can be wrong! while self diagnosing can also but you have to question if you do first and self diagnose if someone doesn't think they have something they aren't gonna get professionally diagnosed
telling people to stop self diagnosing is stupid and really shows your privilege and if you think people should stop all together then you need to look at your own privilege and stop judging others for not having the same
(sorry if this doesn't make sense/gen)

"You need to self diagnose first before you can actually get a diagnosis" Excuse me? If the point of assessing yourself is to then consult a doctor to verify your speculation, then what's the purpose of trying to confirm it yourself? A self-diagnosis does not guarantee you have a disorder you think you might have due to issues such as overlapping symptoms and a lack of objective view of one's own behaviors. Not to mention that some people such as toddlers can get diagnosed with certain disorders even if they're unaware of their own issues, which also makes your argument untrue.
I'm all in for speculating what pathology you could have, but to be honest, what are the perks of associating yourself with a specific one in the first place?

The issue isn't self diagnosing the issue is that there's these people out here that rely on tiktok to know if they have mental health issues instead of studying, NOT all but a handful of the people who do this are white queers who take advantage of this system as well
self diagnosing is okay, just do your damn research, ACTUAL research.

I definitely disagree. I think it's of course okay to do research and question if you may have something, but when so many mental health issues have many overlapping symptoms, it's really best to see a professional. I feel like those going around self-diagnosing can also seriously invalidate those who have been diagnosed or bring down certain issues when not correct with their own diagnosis. It's okay to speculate, but it is very important to seek a diagnosis and professional help

Self diagnosing yourself isn't smart honestly. If you truly feel like you have symptoms please see medical professionals for help. I work at a hospital and you'd be surprised at how many people self diagnose themselves without medical help to clear it up or find more that they actually cause themselves more damaged. I'm not trying to be mean but help before people actually get emotionally, physically abused by themselves for these things..

as someone who is professionally diagnosed, i disagree. Call me classist, but self diagnosis is just… wrong. You can never fully be sure if you have what you think you do unless you get a professional diagnosis. Theres a huge difference between speculation and diagnosing

Thank you! Then again, self-diagnosis can also be a very exclusive club, especially in a certain community I won't name.
