it's cleaning day.
first is the brain, removed and put in warm soapy water to soak. it's experienced much since the last cleaning, and needs time to relax, to recharge the memory banks and remove any unnecessary information. this is the longest process, so it must happen first.
the eyes are next, rinsed off and put back in. they've seen so much and yet they will continue to see more. there is no erasing what it has seen, however as time passes and more experiences are experienced, they might become lessened.
after that is the heart, taken out and put in front of the blazing fire. though it was warm beforehand, it could stand to grow warmer, chasing away the cold tendrils of grief.
the lungs are fully deflated before being refilled. the new breath within its barriers feels crisp and fresh. the lungs no longer feel as tight, it no longer hurts to draw a breath.
oil is applied on all joints and hot compresses are put on elbows, knees, ankles. though the joints still ache, it is no longer a sharp pain when moved, rather an uncomfortable, familiar ache.
the spine is removed and stretched out. the kinks are kneaded away under careful hands, the absence of aches and pain a suffering of itself, however when it fades, it goes unnoticed until it returns tenfold.
the ears are wiped out and the nose is drained. the sounds and scents of the streets are cleared away, making room for more to come.
the fingers and toes are removed and left to chill. the shakiness and stiffness are shocked into disappearing against their will, the digits feeling refreshed and refurbished
finally, the throat is unclogged, words unspoken and bad aftertastes merely a memory now, leaving room for the voice to sing, unburdened.
to be clean, body and soul, you must be prepared for the good and bad, the dirty and the clean, and all the burdens that come with.
