In my opinion, identifying with subcultures is pointless. Nowadays, subcultures carry no political agenda, and people are united solely by aesthetics, not a shared worldview.
The capitalist world has done its job. Now, even punks have their own stores selling high-priced items, which goes against their core principles. Communities are fragmented. People waste time arguing over unshakable canons and appearances, arguing over who's "true" and who's not.
That's why I believe that modern subcultures are merely labels for different aesthetics and very rarely for shared interests.
By identifying with a particular subculture in the hopes of finding friends, you condemn yourself to endless arguments, aesthetically pleasing lip-syncs, and links to online stores where you can buy the latest trending polyester clothing.
While I was at a bar recently, someone asked me if I was emo. And if not, why do I look the way I do?
Look like what? People who say "my subculture isn't a costume!" are like those they judge when they judge someone by their appearance. I simply dress the way I like and listen to what I like. Among this music are genres considered emo. My worldview largely aligns with the ideas propagated by emo during its heyday.
However, I don't feel the need to confine myself to any label. I consider myself versatile and interesting enough to find friends without situating myself in any particular group.

thankfully my subculture of "rural turkey" has a core principle in which you must vote for anti capitalist parties (CHP,TKP,TIP,HKP,etc)

It's so hard to find like minded people lately with how skewed everyone's view of different subcultures has become - just about anyone will call themselves "alt" and other adjacent labels, without holding any of the political views. While participating and supporting things that actively go against them.
How am I supposed to find my crowd when it's suddenly the new hot thing that everyone wants to be apart of? I wish the hype around punk and such would die down already - even if I know it won't - so that the people doing it for shits and giggles will move on already!!1
It's so normalized that I've had multiple people claim to be punk and admit to supporting fast fashion/AI usage within five minutes of meeting them (not that those are the only problems but definitely the most common I've found).
