hello! i'm zero or z3r0luck and i'm an article (?) writer.
so, this is the first ever blog i've ever written and posted on spacehey or anywhere else, and i'd like to talk about a recent thing that was "born", as i say.
this thing i will talk about, is yumeshipping, also called selfshipping in english.
> but zero!! what is yumeshipping?!
> yumeshipping, or selfshipping, is a term born for those who think and believe that they are dating any fictional character.
an example, is a friend of mine, a luther (ranfren) yume.ย
yume is the term used for the people that ship themselves with these characters.
there can be:
> sharing yumes (are okay with anyone shipping with the same character)
> selective yumes (they choose who can ship with their same character)
> non sharing yumes (they don't want anyone shipping with the same character)
in my opinion, the most toxic ones are non-sharing yumeshippers, because most times i've met yumes who harass people for liking their same character even a bit.
some yumeshippers also practice oshikatsu, a kind of "hobby" where they collect or make merch of a certain character.
!! THIS POST WAS NOT MADE TO HARASS ANYONE!! i'm a yumeshipper's friend myself, so this is just to give a simple explanation about this, not to shame anyone and their beliefs. !!
z3r0luck, out!! <3

as one who dabbles in it myself, I just want to clear up that it's not necessarily actually thinking or believing you're dating the character. There will always be exceptions, but most often it isn't. I personally don't, I know they're fictional and none of it is actually real. It's all self-indulgent fanfic/fan content basically.
sorry for the late reply, but thanks for telling me!! i have quite some friends that are like the people i described, so i'm not really the most educated on this, so thanks again!!
