I can explain!
Don't get me wrong, romcoms are amazing and i love them. But the cliche unrealistic ones make me want to.barf. I always say "i would rather kill myself manually with a cheese grater than have this happen to me in real life" everytime im watching a romcom.
My most hated cliche/unrealistic trope is the "You were just a bet" or "They just dared me to date you" and like "oh but after the dare/bet i fell inlove with you for real"Β

like??? i would never get back with a guy if i found out he only dated me as a dare or for a bet. and i know YOUΒ wouldn't either hello??
i feel like it degrades and diminishes women, also because ive never seen a romcom where the girl plays the guy and they still get back together in the end. (ik How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days but they played each otherΒ like it was mutual sorta)

This line reminds of a dialogue from 'The summer I turned pretty' where a character conrad says: "I would rather have someone shoot me in the head with a nailgun repeatedly than have to watch him touching her like that all night"
