My thoughts as to why i think that the school system in the philippines suck.
In my opinion, instead of DepEd removing strands from senior high, they should instead remove unnecessary subjects from specific strands. Focusing on the subjects that relate to their corresponding strands would not only lessen stress but would also be time-efficient for students and teachers.
Before, I thought that choosing the medical course in STEM would give me advanced knowledge in regards to medical courses in preparation for college and would be completely different from engineering— but I stood corrected. It was far from different, we were given the same tasks, lessons, and homework. The only thing that probably differs is the research. If I had known, I should've skipped senior high and enrolled for college instead.
And now, they want to change the passing grade to 95. Even I couldn't maintain that high of a grade. Andami na ngang nag-chcheat para makakuha lng ng grade na 90, ano pa kaya kung papalitan yung passing grade? I'm not justifying cheating or anything, all I'm saying is kahit ano pang palit niyo jan, d tlaga mawawala yang cheating. Feel ko nga mas magiging rampant pa yung cheating eh. I don't doubt that. Another thing is that this would probably become one of the root cause/factors of mental illness and increase the suicide rate here in the philippines. In regards to mental health, I've seen fellow students try so hard to maintain an excellent grade to the point where they push themselves up to their limit until they become mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. So, I think that this change in the future would be really unfair on our part as a student. They're just making everything worse instead of improving the curriculum. SMHHHHHH ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯
What even made them think that changing the grading system to qualify for "with honors" would make everything better?
