immense probability of nothing happening again

howdy howdy! Lessons in checking the notifs here:

a) there is still an extreme dearth of intelligent internet users who understand they are on the internet (no comprehension of jokes, sarcasm, light-hearted banter)

b) people online still believe they must be the most moral people on the planet

c) jumping off of that, they cannot fathom someone not believing that "everything is okay forever."

It is a bit baffling to be frank, even as a 2000s baby, to witness an extreme lack of comprehension or otherwise knowledge of how the old internet works. Especially on a website that seems to be enjoying its status as a "not mainstream" type of website to connect users across the globe. I used the mid 2000s internet when I was very young, and probably too sensitive to be bumping elbows with adults who understood online to be a simple, casual, and unserious land of expression.

I guess at some point I must accept: the internet as we know it will never be "alt" again. We are riddled with those who can only interact with their kid gloves to protect us all...from, what, exactly?

If you make a joke online now, the response is "imagine actually thinking this." These people are embarrassingly small of mind, and impossible to comprehend without continuing to denigrate their tact and intelligence. There's no room for sarcasm or jokes, and if someone considers it--the response becomes "PLEASE tell me this is sarcasm." They can't joke back. People online aren't funny anymore. It's a pain to use the web with these kinds of people.

And they're everywhere. I thought spacehey would have some reprieve. The efforts to reclaim a freer and more creative internet will come with a complete and total annihilation of the witticisms and cleverness and alternative expression that actually coupled the old 'net.

At some point I will have to sit in my corner with my tastes and just accept that I alone hold the key to seeing what I want to see online.
