Oh no! I am also allergic to cats but grew up with them so I only found out when I was about 17 years old. My tolerance for cats has increased because I grew up with them, so my symptoms are only mild. Have you considered getting medicine for it? An acquaintance of mine also has the allergy and takes meds for it as his parents have a cat, and he says it's ok. Only downside is that he can't drink orange juice or something (makes the meds not work I assume?)
