I know someone who portrays themselves as deeply concerned about animal welfare. On social media, they act like true animal advocates, which makes their real life behavior disgustingly hypocritical.
About a year ago, they got a very large dog. As like any large breed, this dog needs extensive space to run, play, and rest. However, they keep him on a ridiculously tiny rooftop with no protection from the sun. They even leave him alone for days while they travel, and from what I’ve seen, he only gets walked a twice or thrice a week. It was only recently, with the rainy season approaching, that they finally put a small roof over him.
It infuriates me because this is a form of neglect. The dog is clearly stressed; at night, he cries out so loud that neighbors wake up worried, it cries because of cold and loneliness, and during the day, I often see him lying sadly on the ground, staring at his toys, hoping someone will play with him. My biggest fear is that his high stress levels could lead him to bite someone out of frustration. If that happens, the dog could end up being euthanized, which would be an absolute tragedy since it’s not his fault at all :(
I believe this all stems from their vanity. They love to show off a luxury lifestyle that is a complete facade, and they have many followers on their social media that fall for this fake persona. Their vanity has led them to treat this animal like a mere accessory. It seems like they have this dog like a slave for their photos to make them appear wealthy when, in reality, they are far from it.
In my country, animal neglect isn't a priority for the authorities, so the police rarely intervene. The only thing I can do is just talk to them (I did), but they don't listen, they are very conflictive and don't like to be on the wrong. I just hope these owners open their eyes and provide this dog with a decent quality of life before his mental health breaks or it’s too late for him.
What are yall thoughts on this?

Please give your pet a good life, if you cant, then don't have pets at all. Bye.

neglect is bad and generally too many people own animals they won't take care of. which is especially bad with smaller things that people won't... I guess, humanize? Like, associate with a personality easily?
