first week of february! let's gooo. once again i am writing this instead of doing my homework but what's new. i never said i was good at managing my time wisely.

slept in until like 11 AM. recently i've been waking up at 8 AM without an alarm so this was a nice change of pace.
this day was mostly dedicated to doing my homework and some other assorted bullshit that i had been meaning to get done for a little while (including writing last week's blog :P)
nothing really eventful happened but that's fine tbh. sometimes no news is good news

got to work at 11 AM (finally i didn't have to open on monday for once) and it was generally a pretty lowkey day. my awesome coworker mckinley came in off-the-clock to study and bought me a donut from the grocery store next door which was pretty cool. :-)
law also came in because apparently he had "a big gift" to give me. he's been giving me a lot of those recently - which doesn't really surprise me considering his spending habits. don't worry, he has the disposable income to do this. anyways, he comes in and he's talking to me at the counter and he's like "okay close your eyes real quick" and i went Uhh okay and then a few seconds later he's like "open them" and before me is this GIANT horse plushie. i was kind of feeling like crap for unrelated reasons but as soon as i saw this beast i immediately lit up like a christmas tree.
still don't really have a definitive name for her yet. let me know if you have any suggestions.
got out of work at 6:30 (i agreed to stay a bit later for the evening shift lead since they were coming from their other job) and went to go pick up candy so they could do their laundry at my apartment again. we had some chicken and bacon fried rice my dad made and hung out in my room watching stupid youtube videos on my laptop (my roommates were in the living room using the TV BLEHH). drove them back home at around 9 PM or so and then fell asleep around 11 PM

fortunately, the temperatures were not sub-zero this morning. unfortunately, that meant that i had to go to my fuckass applied embedded systems class.
i kept getting distracted in lecture because the guy in front of me had some really bizarre website open on his laptop. i don't even really know how to describe it. it was like, some sort of random number generation website? they kept flashing by really quickly and he was doing SOMETHING with these numbers but i have no idea what it was. genuinely fascinating.
anyways, we had to go to lab and work with MOSFETs and LEDs and arduinos. i'll spare you the gory details because honestly it's not all that interesting.
me and my classmate tina hopped in her car and stopped to grab some food at dunkin before we headed over to my job and just chilled in the lobby for a bit while we waited for our next class at 1:10. i brought house of leaves with me, so i was reading that.
as we were sitting there, the table behind us was having the most INSANE conversation that we couldn't help but eavesdrop on. something about having a repressed homosexual father? i could not definitively tell you what the hell these two people were talking about. it was really intriguing.
headed back to the aeronautics and engineering building at around 12:45. nothing super interesting happened until my capstone class at 2:15.
so the class before us in that classroom is a bunch of aeronautics majors working on some sort of project where they have to build a model plane or some shit. and every single time we go down there like 15 minutes before class starts they STILL aren't out of the classroom despite their class period ending at like 1:45. and they leave a HUUUGE fucking mess. that they don't clean up. really cool.
anyways, they finally clear out and our group is finally able to sit down at our table when something rather curious catches my eye: a giant screw... thing. it's not actually a screw because it doesn't have a screw head but i'm not really knowledgeable about these things so i'm just calling it a screw. apparently one of the fuckass aeronautics major students just left it on the table.
being the little shithead that i am, i decided to take it and keep it as a pet. his name is scrupert (as suggested by one of my friends). here's a picture of me holding him like a cigarette.
anyways, my day after this wasn't super eventful. ended up skipping my last class cause i just didn't feel like going and it's boring as fuck.
that is, until i decided to do some laundry that night. as i was closing the laundry room door, my pointer finger nail was in between the door and the wall and uhhh. it closed. on my nail. which separated the nail from the nail bed.
if you've never had this happen to you, just know that it is INCREDIBLY painful and you do not want this to happen to you ever.
it started bleeding, so i went to go run it under some cold water (which would also prevent it from swelling) and then slap a band-aid on there. as i'm standing there in the laundry room (where we keep the first-aid kit) putting this band-aid on, i can feel myself getting super lightheaded. uh oh. i stumble over to the couch as i feel my hearing and my vision fade out. i managed to sit down before i passed out but jesus christ that was scary. i guess it must have been from shock or something??
i ended up having to take painkillers because of how much this HURT. it also didn't help that my nails were less than a week old and so it didn't even take the gel nail with it. the gel nail is, in fact, still on there and cannot be easily removed. so i don't even know what my actual nail looks like underneath. great!
hung out with cherry and skulb before i went to bed though which salvaged my night. YAY!!!

another evil 7:45 AM lab. eugh. i ended up being late because 1) i didn't have time to fully eat my pop-tarts before i left the apartment so i just ate it in my car in the parking lot outside the AEB and 2) there was a deer outside my apartment and it was so so cute i got distracted. take a look.
what a sweet face...
anyways, had to book it to my job as soon as lab let out. thankfully mckinley agreed to bring me a sausage egg and cheese sandwich from dunkin on their way to work so i wouldn't starve the entire day.
all things considered, this was one of the slowest days i'd had at work in a while. there was an hour-long stretch of time where there were absolutely no customers or orders or anything for either of us to do. mckinley and i just ended up sitting on the couch in the lobby reading. she was reading some paper for class, while i was back on the house of leaves grindset. our reading time was ended when one of my former coworkers stopped by for a drink. which was unfortunate, but at least the person who interrupted us was someone i knew!
also i had to wear a finger condom the entire day because my nail was basically still an open wound and it would be bad to be constantly running it under water. it looked really strange but got the job done for the most part.
can't really remember what happened after i got back from work although i'm pretty sure i ended up taking a nap at some point :P
oh, and i hung out with cherry!! had a gay ol' time watching the old animator vs animation videos i remembered watching as a wee lass. honestly i'm still really impressed by them and now i'm lowkey kind of invested in the AvA/AvM universe. :-)

another day, another fuckass applied embedded systems class. we spent the entirety of it in the lab this time. once again we were dicking around with arduinos which was admittedly kind of fun.
once class let out, me and some of my capstone group members who were also in applied embedded systems decided to go to a diner downtown to eat lunch! i'd never been there, but i was promised that it was good and also cheap, so i was definitely down for it. we all hopped in my classmate izzy's SUV and headed over.
this place was awesome. it kind of makes me mad i hadn't thought to come here before. they had an entire menu for dirty sodas, which are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. if there's one thing mormons did right, it's making dirty soda a mainstream thing LOL. i got a barqs rootbeer with vanilla flavoring and vanilla cold foam and it was absolutely delectable.
for my food, though, we were able to order off this thursday-exclusive menu called the "buck-buck menu". you could get anything on the menu for TWO DOLLARS!!!!! so i ended up getting french toast, scrambled eggs, and home fries, all for only six bucks. pretty goddamn good deal if you're asking me.
paid our bills and got going at around 12:30 or so. we got back to the parking lot and circled it looking for a spot for a little while until izzy eventually just decided to park in a restricted spot and sit there and wait for someone to leave. we sat there for like 10 minutes until someone went OVER THERE LOOK and she IMMEDIATELY floored it and snatched up the spot before some asshole who was also circling the parking lot in a BMW could. really clutched it there.
rest of the class day wasn't super interesting. go figure. went home and took a big fat nap.
woke up like 2 hours later and made myself some aldi boxed white cheddar mac and cheese for dinner. it was pretty good, albeit kind of bland. i think if i make it again i gotta zhuzh it up a little.

didn't have work until 4:15 PM so i was able to do sweet fuckall until then. took a short nap which was pretty nice. unfortunately right before i was about to leave my roommates decided it would be a great time to ceaselessly fuck around in the kitchen which completely prevented me from making myself dinner before i left. of course.
so, i had to make a bit of an adjustment to my plans. after going out to my car and brushing all of the snow off of it and letting it defrost, i placed a mobile order for taco bell and went on my merry way. picked it up through the drive thru and i was a little worried cause the person in front of me apparently ordered the entire fucking menu and i thought it would make me late for work. thankfully i was able to make it to work on time, though. this came at the cost of having to scarf down my chalupa in the back room really awkwardly instead of having time to sit in my car and eat it at a leisurely pace. LOL
i also decided to try the new salted caramel churros off the new value menu. honestly, they're pretty good, but idk if i'd order them again. they're 1.99, which is kind of a steep asking price for three little tiny churro pieces.
also i got a baja blast for one dollar because i ordered during taco bell's "happy hour" which is from 2-5. which, as you may have noticed, is not an hour and is in fact three hours. i've learned to stop asking questions.
everything was going smoothly until the amount of customers slowly tapered off into nothing. confused, we looked outside to check the conditions, and, well... it wasn't looking great. the roads were getting worse by the second, and it wasn't supposed to stop snowing until 9 PM or so. we looked outside at one point, and it was just completely white. i texted my boss at 7:55 PM asking if we could maybe close early so all of us could get home safely.
no response. she didn't even read it.
alright, well, guess i would just have to accept my fate.
we started doing closing tasks anyways so we could at least get out pretty quickly. at around 9 PM a group of EIGHT people walks in out of nowhere. WHY.
my boss finally read my text message at 9:20 PM. she was like "omg so sorry i just saw this! anyways just start doing closing stuff now but don't dump teas until 10 just in case someone comes in. be safe lol!"
i ask her what we should do about the eight people who are currently sitting in our lobby. they have completely settled in. they pushed together tables and took out board games and everything. they are also being kind of obnoxiously loud and boisterous. she tells me to just leave them be until we have to mop and then we can gently ask them to leave. i tell this to my coworkers and one of them immediately goes over there and tells them we're closing early. LOL
what's funny is apparently one of them asked "so... do you like, want us to move?" and one of their friends said "yeah they want us to move To Our Cars. they're kicking us out." which i thought was pretty humorous. for what it's worth all of them tipped so i kind of feel bad about the way i was acting but like. dude why are you here in the middle of a snowstorm
thankfully the rest of the night went relatively smoothly. nobody else came in and we were able to leave like 15 minutes after i locked the door.
sure enough, though, the roads were atrocious. thankfully my experience driving in these kind of conditions came in clutch because i didn't really feel like i was in imminent danger at any point. other people on the road were clearly struggling though. figures.
hung out with cherry some more after i got home and made myself some fried rice and ended up falling asleep on call LOL. this has been happening a lot to me recently. i'm a sleepy guy.

slept in like a motherfucker. didn't get up out of bed until like 1 PM.
decided that i would force myself to get out of the house so i wouldn't go stir-crazy. put together this cute little outfit and experimented with wearing jeans under a skirt. i think it came out pretty good imo. excuse the long ass photo LMFAO
stopped by the ATM to deposit some cash i had laying around, then went and grabbed a coffee and a shitty little sandwich. i got a "mexi mocha", which is a mocha latte with brown sugar and cinnamon i think? it was pretty damn good. i also stopped by the grocery store and got some stuff i was craving.
not much happened for the rest of the day until i hopped on VC with cherry and skulb and we watched bee movie and madagascar (both of which cherry had never seen before - they haven't seen a LOT of the classic kids movies surprisingly!!) had an absolutely wonderful time (which was probably helped by the edible i took a couple hours prior to help stimulate my appetite for dinner a bit) :D
