why cant i jsut keep that to myself huh???? how about that???????? i hate targeted ads i hate social media algorithms i hate it all how about we just make a new internet without that stuff
in 20 years when the government is listening to us through every channel, all we will have left is club penguin archives and thats where we share our plans to take down our tyrannical overlords

We already are creating our own internet and that's what you're on right now sorta. Sure, it isn't a whole new service some technicians come out and install but it still works. The reason the internet is the way it is today is because corporations have a strong foothold on it. For example: Everyone uses Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc and that's what comes to most people's minds when you say social media. You can still use the internet like it's 2005, you just gotta take some modern precautions and avoid the big platforms in favor of smaller, safer, more decentralized ones owned by people instead of conglomerates.
