It's 4 am and I can't sleep so I'll just write about the dentist appointment I had today(yesterday☝️🤓) and some related stuff
I've struggled with brushing my teeth throughout my whole life as gross as it may sound. At a very early age I stopped brushing almost completely and would only do it occasionally (one time as a child, maybe 7 years old I had a tooth removed surgically because it had so many cavities)
I think somewhere in my early teens I could only do it like a couple times a month if even that
But a couple months ago I had a serious wake up call when my dentist (who is thankfully very nice) told me I was at a high risk for a gum disease. Before that I was brushing maybe once a week or less. After that I started doing it more, but because we didn't have toothpaste at home alot of the time I couldn't do it at all.
A month ago thankfully we finally had some and I started brushing multiple times a week, and recently I've been brushing almost everyday because I saw a video about gum erosion and got worried I was starting to get it (thankfully not, only slightly in my back teeth as my dentist told me)
Either way now to the appointment I had today. I found out my teeth are actually in decent shape! I think I'm extremely lucky that my teeth aren't rotten considering how much I had neglected them most my life. I'm also glad my dentist is very transparent but also isn't judgemental. She was really proud of me too which was nice.
Surprisingly I only had like one cavity? And some that were starting in between my back teeth. She showed me an actual map of how it looked so I know exactly how to better my brushing sessions.
I think she was pretty happy to see that I've gotten better because she offered to do extra stuff like removing any tartar and brushing my teeth with some type of special toothpaste ect but I don't mind. Apparently it's common to have mean dentists so I'm very grateful for her.
Moral of the story: if you have issues with dental hygiene for whatever reason, please try to care for them even if it's only brushing once a week. What worked for me the best is my dentist being honest and also me scaring myself with tiktok videos
Take care everyone
