my NY thoughts !

I think when people set their goals for the new year, they immediately do it and pressure themselves while disguising it as "motivation"

A lot of people do "winter arcs". This basically means doing your ny resolutions on November or December instead. Winter arc is also can be described as "focusing on the grind while they're out partying or celebrating" idk tbh.

In my opinion, winter arcs are cool ! But also kinda toxic? when i tried to have a winter arc, i had seasonal depression instead.

I know that seems really sad,but its fine!

Back to NY!

I feel like the reason people don't continue their resolutions for the rest of the year and they only last like a few months is because they start directly on January 1st.

I know! its controversial but its what i think. I feel like it would work better if they started on the last week of December or second week of January and gave themselves like at least a week of buffer.

Next, their goals are unrealistic or too vague. For example:

"NY Resolutions:

-get skinny

-walk 10k steps everyday

-eat less"

Like... it seems kinda sad? and forced too!

I think we should be more specific and intentional!

"NY Resolutions:

-make a stable workout routine (better than just 'get skinny'!)

-try to walk everyday (doesn't matter the amount of steps!)

-watch what i eat and up my protein intake (much more realistic, healthier, and just overall works better!)"

Plus there's like *no* limit to the amount of goals and resolutions you can put down/have. So like make lots! Even little ones, like 'eat breakfast at the right time' or 'clean my shelves once a week' or 'go to cafes less'

But sometimes the reason people have a hard time committing to goals is because they have a lot so it feels too much. Sometimes, having little amount of goals or having small ones.

anywho that's all!

sincerely yours, hyuretto.
