gothic lit recs that ate your soul?

already have classics on my list (love Frankenstein :D) but are there any good, lesser known or contemporary Gothic books leaving you with new emotions?

i'm also looking for fun lighthearted books to take a break with :p
avoid recommending Gideon the Ninth please!! i do not want to read it.
