yeah i did it in 7th grade cause a fine arts class was required and dropped out after i was told about the 8 hour per day practices the whole summer, i doubt i wouldve stayed regardless because i hated everyone in band anyway
i just play trumpet on my own time now, i liked the concerts but eventually i started disliking having to play music i didnt care about against when i actually wanted to play and it sucked the joy out of it
im in percussion and stuff and now im like so many years into band and im just wishing i didnt join bc i just got back from a parade and it hurts to type from how sore i am
i found the hardest part in quitting was getting away from that community, my school at least was really weird and a few of them still think we're friends
its definitely the sense of camaraderie that keeps people in there, im glad that you find it enjoyable though cause for me being in band was like being a catholic in utah
