thinking about the moral implications of creating artificial life...

I think its really interesting that stories about artificial creation of life are either about a being that is forced to live forever but unable to find real connection/fully live (Frankenstein's creature, AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream...) or they are about a being that only has a limited amount of time and is desperately trying to stay (Roy Batty from Blade Runner, HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey...)
