my thoughts on the south park anniversary concert!!

ok first of all: REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!! i wish i couldve seen it live soooooo so bad but unfortunately i only got into south park in 2025 and in 2022 i was like 11.. still gobsmacked by the performances of tommy the cat and america fuck yeah!!!! also THE RUSH SURPRISE. i already knew it was gonna happen but it was still such a nice moment :) like imagine performing on stage with your best friend ever with two of your favorite bands. already insane. and THEN after doing like 3 songs you find out that said best friend ever secretly got not only another of your favorite bands but ONE OF THE MOST CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED AND BELOVED ROCK BANDS EVER FOR THE CONCERT JUST SO YOU COULD JAM OUT WITH THEM. WHAT DO YOU EVEN DO

secondly: i wish it was wayyyyyy longer!!! i mean obviously it cant be like 7 hours but south park (and ween and primus and matt n trey in general) have so much music and they barely even scratched the surface!! like im really happy they played some non south park songs like when i was on top of you (from cannibal the musical), a few songs from team america, and some primus and ween songs but there was still so much more they could play!!! like the theme song to orgazmo!!!!!! i really wish that they played homo rainbow bc its the one song by ween that was made specifically for the show but i think its because of isaac hayes not being around anymore. if thats the reason that the didnt play it i completely respect that

honestly its kind of crazy how musical south park is for being an adult animated comedy. like the fact alone that they were even able to have an hour and a half concert dedicated to the show and WERENT ABLE TO PLAY ALL OF THE SONGS says a lot for how much music is in the show. not to mention stuff from m&t's other projects like cannibal the musical or team america or the book of mormon or even their band dvda!!!! idk. its just kind of beautiful to me.

i DID write a review for the concert on my letterboxd that goes deeper into my personal connections to it and i would copy it down here if it werent for the fact that its reallyyyyyyyyy freaking long lol.. think ill make a seperate blog post 4 that!
