Respect is not Given but Earned

     As a kid I was taught respect was always given to an adult by default but as I grew older I realized, respect is earned even if you're a parent or an adult. Respect should never be forced apon someone. So if you need to hear this, don't let people shove you around even if they're elders, because they wont always be the most respectable. I grew up in a manipulative house hold where the adults scold you about respect and how you need to give it immediately to parents. Now don't think I am saying you can't respect your parents, I'm saying don't respect them even if you have to do it in private because of your home situation.
