Alright, this is just a random thought I had, so pls bear with me≧◡≦
I'm in no way trying to sound like a sexist but why do women HAVE TO earn for a living? Like hear me out, for throughout human history men always provided for the family and women were homemakers, right? Then feminism came along and equal rights and blah blah blah... but if I put myself in a woman's shoes, I would absolutely reject the idea that I need to waste so many precious years of my life in school and college (not to mention the cost of it), then after college go into the corporate rat race just to be replace by a clanker. Instead, life for a woman would be so peaceful if they pursued what they liked? Like painting, photography, film-making, pottery, opening a small bakery LIKE THERE ARE SO MANY CREATIVE WOMEN THAT WE LOST TO CORPORATES BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO MAKE A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA PROFIT!!!
And the reason I am saying this only for women because men don't have a choice, we HAVE TO earn for a living, we HAVE TO provide or else we're out of the race.
pls tell me that i am not the only one crazy seeing it this way(╥﹏╥)

The problem is capitalism. Women do Have to earn now or they will be homeless just like everyone else lol. They don’t suddenly have to option to just not work, nor do most of them do it because they just want to work torturous hours — as I’m sure most men do too. And if you mean in marriage where they have a husband who’s a breadwinner, that’s not a safe situation for a lot of women. Because if this relationship fizzles out or is abusive, not having an independent income would make it very difficult for them to leave. So they’d either be forced to stay in a dangerous relationship or they’d leave to another unsafe situation like homelessness.
The olden days where women “didnt work” (did unpaid labor at home) were not some paradise where they got to engage with their hobbies and live a life of bliss. Most of them were in dangerous situations and just couldn’t leave. I mean they couldn’t even legally get divorced for a long time! Women didn’t fight for the right to work and receive an independent income because they simply wanted to, they Need to work in order to live safer lives on their own terms. They don’t want to be financially dependent on men who hurt them.
I think everyone should have the right to not have to work jobs purely for extra money, everyone should be allowed to paint if they want! But the financial system we live under doesn’t allow for anyone to do that at the moment, it’s a real shame.

The nuclear family with the man providing came from post WW2 white middle class families. women have always had to work if they didn’t come from a rich background. and it’s not that feminism wanted to trap women in shitty corporate jobs, it’s just that’s what necessary in a capitalist society if you don’t want to have to rely solely on a (potentially abusive) husband forever.
didn't nuclear families exist long before that? i don't think they were just introduced post ww2

As a not woman, from what I understand, It's more or less for them to have independence to not need to rely on a mans finances to have some sort of social and economic standing. Which personally I think is a good thing as not only does it give more opportunities of more people in the work force and a wider range of people to come up with break throughs in things like sciences. But also I argue freedom is the right of all people. And having an independent capital is a great wat to have that.
they don't need to rely on any man's finance, they can be great at the things they love to do and earn from that, the crux of the question i had was "why would you sell your entire life to a corporation/institution who doesn't give a f about you when you don't have to?"
