I like the ship, I’m not gonna lie, but if you ask me seriously if I think it’s a ship that makes sense and if it’s good, I’ll tell you no, it’s not the best.
A lot of times it felt like their relationship being more than platonic was threaded as a joke, which isn’t strictly bad, but in this case it felt almost as if the joke were the people believing in it. I think at the first issues it was alright, but towards the end it became on of two, fan service or making fun of it. But that’s in the writing aspect, which I don’t have much to say than my opinion and it’s not to strong, since it only became a “problem” after finishing the run and after reading some opinions and I feel like I might be bias by them, so don’t take this to seriously please, it’s just my silly opinions on a ship.
Now, character wise, I don’t think they could’ve ever became a serous thing, mostly because I don’t believe Spidey ever felt something more than platonic love, and it wasn’t always either, it was more appreciation towards Wade. Though, I think Deadpool did felt a romantic attraction towards Spidey, but his admiration was stronger, and ofc he would’ve liked to be involved romantically but he didn’t actively seek it. And together they wouldn’t have worked, even though they say opposites attract each other, in this case, it wouldn’t have last long, if we ignore that Spidey wasn’t interested in a relationship with Deadpool, but let’s say they both fell for each other, it just wouldn’t work, at the end Wade will ruin it even if he tried his best or he’ll realize his not good enough and leave.
The end of the run was silly and a bit disorienting, it was funny while I was reading it, but after thinking it felt a bit lame, like, wdym a guy did all the effort of creating an alternative timeline just for Deadpool to know Peter’s identity, I mean, I’ll do the same just for the lols, but I think it was a bit lame. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the issues and I had a good time reading them, and because I don’t take this kind of runs that seriously I give myself the liberty to ship them, not strictly as joke only but not that seriously.
