I feel like most social media is so irritating nowadays. Specifically tiktok. The algorithm does mostly push things it deems interesting to you, but interesting often doesn't mean enjoyable.
The level of stupidity I witness daily on that app is absolutely insane, it genuinely gives me cortisol spikes at this point.
I definitely need to find better things to do than scroll on tiktok (which I usually can, but especially at night when I'm unmotivated I just doomscroll) because the constant bad news, uneducated people and everything negative can't possible be good for one's mental health.
I've taken breaks from tiktok before and I'd say they're definitely worthy but even the quality of YouTube videos has gone down so it's hard to find content that's genuinely interesting now. And the constant ads make it even worse.
Either way stay safe everyone, don't be ignorant and consume media in a way that doesn't totally rot your brain

Currently only form of media I actually enjoy consuming are music and movies. Specifically CD's and DVD's. Everything nowadays is so soul crushingly bland and filled to the brim with ads and paid promotions that I don't enjoy watching anything anymore.
Yeah physical media is so comforting now. I've began collecting more dvds again mostly incase my internet goes down or I wanna watch from my TV instead of my phone

I would suggest physically placing your phone in a different area at night, as much as reasonable. I'd also say that TikTok's algorithm really went downhill at some point and it's consistently bad at feeding me anything that actually is even notable.
Yeah the algorithm is really not consistent. It'll start only pushing me videos about a topic I liked a few minutes before and nothing else. I think the only way to fix that is to just use the app less at that point🫠
