My first album of the day review thing - The Scream by Siouxsie and The Banshees

I’d rate this album a 9. Siouxsie and The Banshees did a really good job creating a distinct sound for themselves. Some stand outs in the album (in no particular order) were: Carcass, Jigsaw Feeling, Suburban Relapse, Switch, and Mirage. Overall the album was very consistent in quality. Some things I liked were Siouxsie’s vocal performance, the lyricism, the album’s ability to stay engaging throughout its entirety, the unconventional elements of it, and the gothic atmosphere the band maintains throughout the album. Some criticisms I have are its lack of digestibility, and its occasional repetition in the instrumental. I would recommend this album to people who are familiar with gothic rock and already enjoy the genre. I think it could possibly work as an introduction to gothic rock due to its short songs and its influence from the mainstream rock scene. However if you are going to listen to the album you should be prepared that it’s not made for mainstream appeal. Anyway I really enjoyed this album and it’s probably one of my favorite Siouxsie and The Banshees albums.
