when an artist just clicks

ive been enjoying malcolm todd’s music a lot lately. not just listening, but actually learning his songs by ear on guitar. it’s been a while since i’ve wanted to sit down and figure music out like that, just replaying parts until they click.

yeah, my ex technically introduced me to his music, but i don’t associate it w her anymore. it doesn’t feel attached to anything. it’s just the music now, and i like that. i’m past the point where things get ruined by who showed them to me first.

what really got me is how rare this feels. i haven’t clicked with an artist like this in a long time. every song hits, no skips, no forcing myself to like it. finding that again feels like finding a gem.

the only other time i’ve felt this way was with junny. same thing music that just works, start to finish.
