SSRI SWEATS

So, my mother and I when to see the new avatar movie right. Usually, when I'm walking around the mall, I break out into buckets of sweat. Im on Lexapro for MDD then I'm on buspirone and propranolol for severe GAD with Ativan PRN for my catatonic disorder.  Everyone who takes big Lex knows about those sweats or anyone who takes an SSRI in general. When I say I was sweating buckets, I was sweating buckets -- even when it was COLD.

I talked to my psychiatrist about this issue because I'm the type of person to thug it out for real, but it was getting to a point that immediately after I dried, i'd be so tired and I would literally sleep majority of the day. So again, I talked to my psych about this and he gave me a medication that could combat the sweating. I had a choice of increasing propranolol because it's mostly used for the physical effects of anxiety, but my heart rate is already pretty low with the current dosage.  The sweating  wasn't even related to anxiety. That was solely the S/E of the Lexapro. Im on benztropine now and it is such a life saver.

Yes, my mouth is dry and so are my eyes, but I can walk around the mall now! I was walking to meet my mother since I was already at the mall and I was just so happy because I hadn't broken out in a sweat not once. It was like breathing fresh air. If I'm being honest, I don't even mind having to use eyedrops. It's so easy, it's nothing, and I drink mad water anyway, so the side effects do not outweigh the benefit.  I didn't sweat unless I was in a hot environment like the area where you buy snacks and popcorn. That was the only incident I was sweating in, but outside of that-- no sweating unless I missed a dose.

I so look forward to finally taking my morning walks and not having to sleep after because I was sweating so much.  I look forward to being more active in my day to day life. I look forward to this summer because I stayed home majority of the time because of the sweating. I will keep my little fan with me to cool me off since with lack of sweat I'm more at risk for heat stroke. Id rather that risk and keep cold water and a fan, than to sweat so much I'm literally dripping water off of my nose.

All that to say, I'm just super excited about this breakthrough with my medications and the side effects. I already feel like I can go outside and actually enjoy walking again and dillydallying. One time for scar!!

xoxo,

scar
