Safe Harbour

He saw the grey in her weary eyes,

A silence held, a story untold,
She, a world walled, afraid to speak,
Where shadows stretched, and love had fled,
He reached for her, a gentle hand,
A promise whispered, safe at last.

She saw the kindness, holding so last
In his gentle, weary eyes,
A beauty hidden, forced to understand
A life of feeling invisible, and untold,
He offered a shelter, a helping hand,
A space to breath, to speak.

He had longed for that space to speak,
A kindness to hold on to last,
A place in which to feel safe
She found a flicker in his eyes,
a story still to be told
a gentle hand.

She offered him her hand,
And found the words to speak
in the untold
depth of his eyes.

They promised each other they’d always last
and be safe.

In a place where it's safe, they can be their best at last
and share a gentle hand
knowing they can always speak.
