1. skincare habits that helped out

over time, ive learned that its not just about the products u use, its how u use them.

here are some habits that truly made a difference for my acne prone skin:

  • swap ur towel for toilet paper (or a clean tissue)ย
ik it sounds weird, but wet towels that have been sitting in the bathroom can quickly become breeding grounds for bacteria, which can irritate ur skin and cause breakouts. gently patting ur face with something soft, clean, and disposable can make a huge difference.
  • ย add panthenol to your routineย
this little MIRACLE is amazing for soothing, repairing, and keeping ur skin barrier healthy. i use it after ive put on tonic, so it can act as a moisturizer.
  • less is moreย
trust mee when i tell u that ur skincare routine doesnt need to be 10 steps long. i found that keeping it around 3 to 4 balanced steps in the morning and at night works best. overloading ur skin can actually make breakouts worse.
  • consistency is keyย

ik that its hard to wait but dont switch products too quickly if u dont see immediate results. every skin barrier is different, and it takes time to notice actual improvements.
  • stick to the same product line when possibleย
usually products from the same line are formulated to work together, which can reduce the risk of irritation or conflicting ingredients, which can therefore again lead to a breakout. if and when trying a new product, start by using it at night for about 3 nights while keeping ur usual products in the morning. only if ur skin shows no reaction can you fully add it in ur routine.

remember, good skincare isnt about doing more, its about doing it right, clean, and consistently.

2. how i found what worked for me

finding the right routine for acne prone skin isnt always easy, and it definitely takes time. sometimes, going to a dermatologist can feel pricey, but tbh its usually worth it. a professional can guide u, make sure ur products are safe for ur skin, and help you avoid wasting money on things that might not work. remember to always check with ur dermatologist before adding a new product.ย ur skin is unique, and what works for someone else might not work for u, or worse, could cause irritation. so dont try everything you see on social media, i promise u its not worth it.

if seeing a dermatologist isnt an option right now, u can still create a simple, effective routine on ur own. do ur research, look for advice from people with the same skin type as u, and build a routine gradually. it may take some trial and error, but once u find what truly works, its SOย worth it.

skin doesnt change overnight, but finding a routine that suits u is one of the best investments u can make for ur skin.

3. food and lifestyle tweaks

what u eat and how you live can make a bigger difference than u might think. for me, i found that certain teas are amazing for hydration, gut health, and keeping acne calm.ย

my faves are:

  • green tea

  • nettle tea

  • hibiscus tea

  • spearmint tea

these actually support ur digestion and help ur skin from the inside out.

when it comes to food, i try to limit junk,ย which unfortunately means cutting back on oil, sweets, and fried snacks. oven baked alternatives are a much better option. and if u do indulge, try to keep it to once or twice a week.ย

water is another game changer, and ik. its probably the most repeated advice ever, but drinking enough actually helps ur digestion and flushes out the "junk" from ur system. just make sure to calculate your intake based on ur height and weight, because everyones needs are different, and overdrinking isnt helpful either.

finally, stress management is key. stress can be a big trigger for my acne, so finding ways to relax, breathe, and control my stress as much as possible really helps my skin, along with everything else.

acne prone skin is truly a journey, not a quick fix. what worked for me took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error, but once i found what worked for me, everything started to make sense. from building better skincare habits to doing proper research to adjusting my food and lifestyle, every small change added up. and just to be completely transparent: my skin isnt "perfect" or fully clear. i still have some spots (PIH) im working on, and from time to time, i get painful breakouts around certain days of the month, but that happens, and its normal.

but compared to what i struggled with 3 to 4 years ago, the difference is huge. my skin is calmer, healthier, and i barely deal with texture anymore, and that alone feels amazing. progress doesnt have to mean perfection, and this is proof that things can get better with time, patience, and the right care.

remember, your skin is unique. dont rush results, dont compare ur progress to others, and dont give up just because something didnt work right away. healing takes time, but when you finally find in what works for you, its completely worth it.

thank u for sticking with me and reading this after my little break. i hope this helped even a little and if it did, that makes sharing my journey worth it <3

LMK if u have anyy questions !!
