Why u shouldn’t label unlabeled people

So basically if ur unlabeled it means that u don’t go by any labels for ur orientation (u don’t identify as gay, bi, straight, etc despite fitting the definition of a label so if ur a guy that likes other guys that would be considered gay but if ur unlabeled while having that same feeling ur not gay ur just considered unlabeled despite that bc the label felt uncomfortable for any reason)

So a lot of the time people will say an unlabeled male that likes both genders is bi or an unlabeled girl that likes girls is lesbian so what’s the actual problem?

It actually does come off worse than many people think

I’m gonna speak on this topic as an unlabeled person bc I want more people to understand this clearly

When u label an unlabeled person it can make them feel uncomfortable bc they don’t identify w that label FOR A REASON for me labels never sat right w me and I would constantly overthink stuff like “maybe im straight but I might be bi but what if im aroace spec no i can’t be that bc…” ykwim and it got so stressful to label myself that when I decided to go unlabeled it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done for myself bc I could simply live my life without that confusion and take things as they go and not think abt it

Being unlabeled isn’t being indecisive or suppressing emotions it’s simply just not liking to have a certain word that describes ur orientation and taking things as they go it’s that simple

Not to hate on labeled people but to help people understand what being unlabeled is and why u shouldn’t label them

Labeling an unlabeled person is like saying to a lesbian  “yeah but u dated a guy 10 years ago so ur bi” when I say it like that it sounds a lot worse right

So I have my reasons but other people have theirs for being unlabeled and it’s not smth to look down on again it’s just someone not feeling comfortable putting a title on their feelings that’s not a moral failing that’s a difference in comfort among people nothing else

For this example let’s say it’s a guy who likes someone completely regardless of gender so people would say that’s the definition of pan and it technically is but in this example this person is unlabeled bc he felt like calling himself pan didn’t make him feel good and questioning his label was stressful so if u label him as pan it’ll cause that stress again he’ll think “well maybe I’m not pan if that label doesn’t fit” and then he’ll go back into that overthinking cycle

Or he would get frustrated that he would have to explain being unlabeled again and would ultimately feel misunderstood

Now this not only frustrates or hurts this person in question but also other unlabeled people bc they’ll also feel misunderstood or invalid which can be harmful and cause THEM to overthink it as well when they don’t feel comfortable

So yeah moral of the story unlabeled people just wanna go on w how they feel and not worry abt having to fit into smth and don’t label them bc it’ll cause unnecessary stress over smth they can’t control just respect they don’t like labels and move on it’s a simple thing to do that saves a lot of problems to people who feel comfortable without a label

Thx for reading all that lol I hope this cleared up some confusion or convinced someone not to label unlabeled people
