DISCONNECTION

These past few days I’ve taken them as a time to disconnect. 

Last weekend, a traditional festival was celebrated in my hometown, and obviously there were loads of activities to enjoy, including partying at night. It’s typical to go up to the mountains to drink, gather branches from the trees, and later light a bonfire in honour of a saint.

I didn’t realise how much I needed it, but I truly did. I really missed my friends, and it ended up being a solid 10/10 weekend. Whenever I make these kinds of plans, it feels as if I recharge my batteries to 100% so I can return to the weekday routine with renewed energy.

Speaking of disconnecting, I’ve also started going to the beach to walk and meditate, and honestly, I couldn’t have made a better decision. It’s just me, alone with myself, without anyone bothering me or invading my space. I feel at peace.

Sincerely, I believe that as human beings it’s incredibly important to reconnect with nature and simply stop for a moment. We live in a world and a society that move faster and faster every day, and we rarely pause to breathe. I think that’s a mistake, because we’re not machines or robots; we’re not meant to function on autopilot.

I hope everyone has something, some activity, that helps them slow down, even if only for a little while, and allows them to find a bit of peace within themselves. xx

I fully understand the value of getting some time completely alone when you can just briefly disconnect. I get my daily bit of quiet time every day when I get home from school. What I do is I just go to my room,close the door and set a timer for half an hour. Then I just lie on top of my bed and relax mentally and physically. I don’t think about anything in particular but just let my thoughts randomly flow through my mind. By the time the alarm is going to tell me that the half hour is up I usually feel so much better in myself.
