Three Radikal Rekerds #44: Acidaemic Arbalest-Armed Audiles

Zaumne,  Dreams of Teeth Falling Out
Genre: Ambient/Sound Collage/Avant-garde Jazz
Standout track: Upwards
I've interpreted this album of moody and insular songs as pieces tailor-made to accompany the intensely emotive phone call samples and mundane domestic noises attached to them - by which I mean the sample itself is the protagonist, and the music is it's beautiful atmospheric attendant. Like real life dreams they do an excellent job of making little contextual sense, but the details of which linger on in your waking thoughts.

Kanonenfieber, Menschenmühle
Genre: Black Metal/Melodic Death Metal
Standout track: Die Schlacht bei Tannenberg
A rather epic debut from a brand-spanking new one-man German BM outfit. With my feeble Google translate efforts, I've been able to determine that the project's name and album is along the lines of "The Human Mill by Cannon Fever". Even my half-baked translating of the lyrical content doesn't dampen the fierce vision and thematic concerns of this album, with it's emphasis on the grotesqueries and futile excesses of war. Cool to see a metal band embracing the real human horror of combat, rather than glorify it.

Yelzin, Now That's What I Call Yelzin
Genre: Techno/IDM
Standout track: Basic Instinct
Impressive EP with a lush and bassy dance music with a warmth and flawed-utopia feel that isn't afraid to make the listener wait for the endorphin rush. I like the inventive use of breakbeats and the utilization of what sounds like (to my ignorant ears at least) original/preset hybrid samples.
