Oh Mike Wheeler, the character you could've been.. :/
I just wish that Mike had the opportunity to be the character he was designed to be from season 1. Not even the fact that they did his nerfed potential to have a character with internalized homophobia in the 80's, but his bravery, courage and love was all stripped away from him. They fucking lobotomized him. In my opinion, they revolved his character around being "the boyfriend", mostly in season 3, but they were finally steering away from it and setting up byler PERFECTLY in season 4... but whatever... the duffer brothers hate Will Byers, killed his sister then had his "tammy" double reject him.

The dialogue sounds super weird too. The way they talk feels like they're explaining things to a 5-year-old, there's no need to keep hammering home the same points or events while they're chatting or narrating

One of the most tragic thing that can happen to a series/movie, is when they start to make more because it makes them money. And also making it bigger. And it got so big, the list of characters at least, that it was too much for the Duffers.
I am not familiar with their earlier works, but ST was their first ever BIG hit. But correct me if Im wrong. And Netflix is a BIG DOG in the industry. Big studios can be ruthless- I have a feeling they were pushing the deadline on the brothers and they cracked. This is how we got what we got.
Now, I don’t want to justify their bad writing in the latest seasons, but I am pretty sure the studio has to do smt with it. In lots of cases, if the director doesn’t have the balls to stand up for their ideas, then the studio will dictate how the show is gonna look like.
I heard someone talk about how Netflix and other big studios go for chewing everything in the viewers mouth (thats the trend now). That would explain the HORRIBLE dialogues.
But regarding byler- idk wtf was their idea with it in the beginning, idk why they did what they did- but it was CHOPPED. Season one Mike would’ve mauled S5 Mike in a second-

I miss when the show was about one scary monster, starring winona, and we didn't know ANYTHING abt the upside down. I'm yearning for season 1 - 2's vibes...
