I should've locked in sooner

For around a year or two, I've been trying to make my own Minecraft-like game, and jumped around alot and looked at lots of stuff I could potentially do to make it. I had made a website for it and a browser version that isn't too good. The name is YOUniverse3D, and it died out when glitch.com stopped providing free web hosting.

In terms of making the real game, only recently did I finally lock in and start coding my game in the Python programming language. But I've already got a competitor and my game isn't even out yet. It's Hytale.

Their game looks wonderful, but because of them, I now truly need to work on my game quicker. I had no competition before since no one was trying to make a super big voxel game to compete with Minecraft, so I thought I was fine. I was just working in the shadows, with not a worry in the world. I'm now looking at what could kill my game if I don't act fast. People might think I'm just jumping on the hype or trying to be a hytale copy or something.

I wish I had locked in sooner on this all, but I'll start now. I'll work more on my game and make more blog posts detailing progress.

There's very little chance of creating a game in Python. It's better to use other programming languages, such as C++ or C#, and you can also use game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine. There's also the Godot engine, which has its own programming language, GDscript, similar to Python. Godot also supports writing code in C#.

Don't stop, and keep going, even if it seems like it won't work. You're doing great! Good luck with your development!

Thank you! I realized halfway through that Python was unsuitable for the job, so I've just been working on other projects now, but I will get back to making my game one day. That advice is helpful and I'll definitely take it.
