Jewelry Advice

1.  What kind of jewelry should one wear? Jewelry is a form of self expression.  Wear whatever makes you feel good.  I recommend costume/fashion jewelry over fine jewelry.  Styles and taste change.  If you get tired of it, lose it, or break it you won't be out a lot of money.

2.  Should I wear vintage/old jewelry, or reto/new, but looks old jewelry.  It depends on how well made it it.  There are some old brands of jewelry that hold up well.  Elastic bracelets in some cases turn into a bead explosion.  (I know from lots of experience with stretch bracelets.). Some bead, or faux pearl necklaces are okay.  Check to make sure that it's not a weak strand.

2.  Is it okay to wear a lot of jewelry at one time? It depends on the look you want.  Necklaces of different lengths can be worn together for a glamorous look.  Some necklaces are ready made with layers.  A bracelet worn with a watch is classy. Some watches come with a matching bracelet.  A few plain thin rings can be worn in the same finger to give you a unique look.  Experiment to see what works best for you.

3. What if I'm over 50? Things that work the best are basic, silver, gold, or pearl necklaces and earrings.  A sparkly matched set is perfect for the right outfit.  If you want to wear a cute piece such as kawaii, fruit, animals, etc  Wear one piece like that and make the rest of your jewelry silver, or gold.  This will keep you from looking really old.  How do I know? I'm over 50 and tried this strategy.  It works. Avoid wearing a ring on more than three fingers.
