Watching this movie has really shown me the importance of people’s perspectives, especially those you don't think about. Throughout the movie, I found myself focusing more on the characters than on the storyline. Not because of their appearances, but the lack of their emotions and feelings towards one another. The only relationship that sparked my interest was Neil and Todd’s, although they haven’t known each other that long, they have a special bond that none of the characters had with each other, you may say Neil and Charlie were childhood friends, but they could have had at least more interactions and deep conversations. Neil and Todd did have an emotional bond. When Todd wasn’t included in the founding meeting of dead poets society. Neil went to tell him about it, even forced him to go to the meeting, and made a change to the traditional way of the Dead Poets Society meetings for his comfort. I really loved how Neil was so insistent on including Todd in everything, even in writing poetry, reading it out loud, and trying to encourage him to overcome his anxiety.
And in the rooftop scene, where Neil found Todd holding his “new” desk set and throwing it off the building was really the most important scene to me, I feel like that scene really formed a stronger bond between them, especially for Todd. Neil was the first friend Todd ever had, and really the best friend he had.
And overall the whole movie was so beautiful, most were Mr. Keating's classes. They had so much meaning, he didn’t only teach his students, he taught everyone that really, success, money, and work aren’t the things you live for. But it’s beauty, romance, love, poetry, and the most important of all, passion. Passion is seriously the most you feel in life when you have a hobby, dream job, or just a motivation to live, whether it’s a person or an object. Passion is the only asset that makes you love something, or someone.
To Neil, acting was of course, his passion of life, he mentioned he wanted to act for a long time but his father was holding him back on the one thing he loved. Maybe the only thing at that point in his life, he lived for, and he couldn’t, his passion, which was so strong that he defied his father, rebelled against his orders, and lied to Mr. Keating, just to act. That’s how deep his passion is. And at the end, it was taken away from him. So really when your passion is taken away, what is there really to live for, if you can’t have the one thing you love, then what’s the point in living?

I love DPS so much ♡ I know adapting it into a book wasn't all that necessary but I love to read the whole thing again sometimes when I'm in a place where I can't watch it. And I loved Charlie sm!
