My current fixation on flip phones (or "dumbphones")!☆

Hi hello!!

So recently (and for several months now lol) I've found myself looking into older phones that were used back in the early 2000s, and man...why did we ever move on from the flip + keyboard designs? ;-;

I'm not on TikTok and very rarely on Instagram, so I'm unsure on how popular flip phones are on there, but on YouTube I've seen plenty of videos of people switching to flip phones or "dumbphones" to get a solid break from social media. After having seen these transition videos, including updates from said creators, and doing research on different flip phones, I've actually ordered myself an ALT MIVE Style Folder 2!!

I don't see myself having a social media addiction, but the reason why I'm getting this phone are because of several things:

- I've had my Iphone 12 since 2020-2021, and ever since the last few big software updates it has begun running things A LOT slower. Not only that, but my alarms sometimes don't go off, so there have been times I've run late to school because it just...didn't want to do its job. There are other issues that have been going on, but I don't want to make this part long lol
- The design; I LOVE BUTTONS!! I feel like I know better what button does what when the button itself is physical and not just a screen. I also find the flip design very charming, and according to Reddit this phone is pretty big, but I don't mind the size. :>
- I originally wanted a Samsung Folder 2 flip phone, but due to the software (Android 6.1) being pretty outdated, many of the apps I need everyday (School ID app, ticket for transportation, banking) aren't supported on it. ALT MIVE Style Folder 2 runs on Android 14 Go, so it's pretty up to date with most apps.
- I despise Apple, and generally find modern phones to be pushing AI features way too much, and as an artist and against the push for AI on everything that exists, I really cannot live with something that lives off something I dont agree with.

I know that people often get dumbed down phones for the purpose to make it difficult to access social media and to have a break from constant stimuli, hence "dumbphone" being the term. For me, I'm only after a phone that isn't overly techy. I want simplicity and charm, and that's just lost in most modern phones. As much as I would love a more restricted cell phone, I unfortunately live in a country that heavily relies on apps and internet for most everyday things. T-T
